Poole Ju jitsu attended the British Ju jitsu Championships and came away with a whopping 12 medals.

12 members from Poole attended the annual event which was held in Walsall with visiting members from all around the country making the event one of the biggest attended to date.

First to bring home the medals was brother & sister duo Omina & Abdulloh who won 4 medals between them in their individual categories. Omina won a bronze in Open Hand Kata and a sliver in Continuous Fighting, while Abdulloh took the silver medals in Random Attacks and Continuous Fighting.

For some this was their first competition and an amazing experience – 15 year old Louisa won a bronze medal in Continuous Fighting, while Leon, also 15, gained a silver medal in Continuous Fighting. Both were over the moon with the results.

The first gold of the day went to junior student Adam for his impressive performance in Continuous Fighting. He also won a bronze medal in Random Attacks.

Senior competitor Adam Wilkin won a gold in his Random Attacks – a tough category – and bronze in Continuous Fighting.

Senior Liam Walkey had a battle on his hands with the largest category of the competition and won a gold in Random Attacks.

The final gold came from 17 year old Madi for her efforts in Continuous Fighting. This was Madi’s first competition and she proved that hard work pays off.

British Championships

It was an impressive medal haul with some of the country’s top martial artists in attendance. Senior club instructor, Andy Walker, went on to say “What a fabulous result winning 12 medals at such a prestigious event. For some it was their first competition. We now have the United Nations in October to look forward to and we hope to repeat the success.
